A professional trumpet player, Ratner has performed with several symphony orchestras in Israel and Russia: as a trumpet soloist, he has performed in many concerts, including tours in Serbia and Russia.
Ratner has given Master Classes at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance (2011) and at the “P.I. Tchaikovsky” Conservatory in Moscow where he was a guest of the “Brass Days” Festival (2011). Since 1994, Ratner – in his role of brass teacher and conductor – has managed students bands of different styles in Jerusalem.
More, he is the author of many orchestrations and transcriptions for wind ensembles and symphony orchestra: his editions of Ravel’s “Pictures at an Exhibition” and of Tchaikovsky’s “1812 Overture” have been performed in Russia, USA, Portugal, Poland and France. Ratner’s arrangements and transcriptions are published by Bruno Uetz Musik Verlag, Germany.
Education
Ratner was a graduate of the Gnessin State Musical College and the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music Academy of Moscow.
Among his trumpet teachers, we highlight T. Dokshitser, the legendary trumpet soloist of the Bolshoi Theater and K. Cox of the Israel Philharmonic. Ratner also attended master courses with K. Groth of the Berliner Philharmoniker.
EKATERINA; SAMSON ( Piano )
Piano teacher and performer, Samson has participated in various international competitions, concerts and performances in Italy, Germany, Kazakhstan, and Russia. In parallel, Samson is involved in various musical projects raging from opera to chamber ensembles.
Education
Samson began her musical studies at the Kazakh National Academy of Music in Astana. She completed her B.Mus. and M.Mus. at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, under the direction of Prof. Vadim Monastysky. Samson has studied chamber music with Prof. Alexander Tamir.

Fabienne Van Eck has played in numerous orchestras and ensembles including the Residence Orchestra of the Hague, the Amman Symphony Orchestra, the Hague Improvisers Orchestra, Musica Nova and the Reflex Ensemble. Van Eck has performed the “Saint-Säens Cello Concerto” with the Bataafs Symphony Orchestra. Plus, she has participated in many international festivals – like the Reich Festival – and has given concerts all over the world: in New York, Germany, France, the Netherlands.
Van Eck has given hundreds of workshops in communities in Palestine, Jordan, Uganda, and Rwanda. Currently she is project manager and music trainer at ‘Musicians Without Borders’.
Since 2013, she is the artistic director and cello teacher of ‘Sounds of Palestine’: a program for children of refugees that combines music with social work.
Education
Van Eck graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from the Royal Conservatory in the Hague (2005). She has studied with Lucia Swarts for four years and with Harro Ruijsenaars for two years. In 2011, she received her Master’s Degree in Music Education from the Jerusalem Academy of Music.
MIRJAM; YOUNAN ( Piano, ABF Choir )
Born in Jerusalem, Mirjam Younan was one of the first students of the Magnificat Institute.
Since 2006, she has taught piano and music theory at the Magnificat Institute. In 2008, Younan founded the “Yasmeen Buds Choir,” the children’s choir of the Magnificat. Younan is also the director of the annual Magic Lamp Festival. Since 2013, she is also a music teacher at the Schmidt’s College Jerusalem.
Mirjam Younan has participated in various master classes and has conducted courses at the Palestine Choral Festival (2013). Since 2014, Younan is a jury member of the Jugendmusiziert International Competition.
Education
Younan completed a Music Diploma in Piano and Theory at the Magnificat Institute. She was also awarded a Bachelor’s Degree in Piano and Conducting in Germany.
