The traditional concert on the Mount of Olives
The first on stage were the Orchestras of the Magnificat Institute conducted by Maestro Robert Canetti: the beginners’ orchestra played Pachelbel’s Canon while the Chamber Orchestra performed Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto n.3. Both ensembles showed artistic maturity and great musical sensitivity. Maria Habash and Patil Karakashian gave life to the beautiful Steinway grandpiano while Gabriel Sa’adeh filled the wide space of the concert hall with the blasts of his trumpet.
Claire Ghazzawi (soprano) took us to the fabulous world of the opera while Tareq Wahheb showed great theatrical presence with his performance of Leporello’s “Notte e Giorno.”
To end this wonderful musical marathon (the concert lasted nearly 2 hours!) the choirs Buds and Yasmeen sang two Palestinian melodies: from Europe to America and back to the Holy Land, the Magnificat took the audience on a musical journey that was very well received.
